Each year, Stop Hunger Now volunteers from around the world package thousands of meals with their corporations, churches, educational institutions and civic organizations. Stop Hunger Now meals are nutritiously sound and designed to meet World Health Organization nutritional standards. Every dehydrated rice/soy meal is fortified with 23 essential vitamins and nutrients. Research has shown that one in three people in developing countries are adversely affected by vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Addressing the problem of hunger is the single point where we can leverage relief for all humanitarian issues.
In 2013, Stop Hunger Now U.S. and international affiliates
shipped 42 million meals to recipients in 27 countries.
Meal packaging events provide a platform to educate and engage thousands of volunteers in a tangible effort to end hunger, helping to overcome apathy while offering a fun, hands-on and rewarding experience for anyone of any age. Benefits for meal packaging participants include leadership development, boosting morale through tangible accomplishments, team-building, goal setting and achievement, creative problem solving, and relationship building.
By the end of 2013, approximately 400,000 volunteers had packaged meals in 11 countries.
